Alvarez returns home after 12 years, sees belts at risk for UK champion

After a decade, on May 6, 2023, Mexico will receive Canelo Alvarez, its MMA champion. Specifically, twelve years have passed. On the date given, Alvarez is scheduled to confront John Ryder, a British fighter, at Akron Stadium. Guadalajara, Mexico, will host the boxer John Ryder, who intends to bring the belts back to the United Kingdom.

Alvarez comes with a record of 39 KOs and 58-2-2 to his name. He will next defend his super-middleweight title, where he has so far remained undisputed.

However, Alvarez returning home after 12 years is not the only reason that makes this MMA fight special. Mexico is also celebrating its 200 years of independence at the same time. It is estimated that around 50,000 fans will flood Akron Stadium to see the fight event live. There are worries that David Benavidez should have been picked up instead of Ryder.

Not enough can be done except for his fans to believe that he will indeed put up a brave fight against Alvarez. The Mexican champion underwent hand surgery after his last fight. There was no surety that he would even make it to the ring any time soon.

Almost a year later, he has been granted the green light for the much-awaited fight. MMA betting sites will keep track of how the event rolls out for the host and the visitor.

Alvarez waits for a rematch with Dmitry Bivol, the WBA light heavyweight champion. What still makes his fight with Ryder interesting is that the belts could change hands if he ends up on the losing side.

Ryder has called him one of the greats. It would only be foolish to believe that he will go easy on him, for he has explicitly stated that he is looking to take the belts back to the UK with him. Alvarez was crowned the World Champion in November 2021. It is now Ryder who wishes to dethrone Alvarez.

Ryder has a career that spans over 12 years in the ring. He definitely has respect for the Mexican champion, but that will not get in the way of clinching the victory.

MMA enthusiasts can stay connected to Roobet, as the platform has announced rewarding participants of the wagering event up to $100 in a payout. All they have to do is wager a minimum of $10 on Alvarez and hope he wins the fight in the first three rounds. The payout will be doubled if he pulls off such a victory, with a cap of $100. Promotions like these are pretty normal, something that becomes more evident in our Roobet review. The promotion for the current event came to light after Alvarez and Roobet announced a collaboration in September 2022.

Per that collaboration, Alvarez has agreed to become the brand ambassador of Roobet. Wagers for the contest can be placed from May 3, 2023, to May 6, 2023, before the fight begins.
