Yesterday in its verdict, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) stated that Ecuador’s Byron Castillo would participate in the forthcoming world cup 2026 in Qatar. The case was dragged by the Football Federation of Chile (FFCH), and the Peruvian Football Federation(FPF) to CAS after FIFA’s Committee members disqualified this team.
However, the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) will get a three-point withdrawal at the second edition of the competition to the World Cup qualifying campaign and a fine of $101,600 for the document having incorrect information. In one of the reports, CAS stated that the decision was based on the fact that Ecuadorean authorities acknowledged the player’s nationality, and now Byron Castillo was eligible to play a preliminary round of the FIFA world cup Qatar 2022 after paying a fine.
