Harmanpreet Kaur equals Dhoni’s record in the Premier League

Mumbai Indians have won three matches in a row in the ongoing India Women’s Premier League, sponsored by TATA. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the team last won, chasing a target of 105 against the Delhi Capitals with 30 balls, or 5 overs, remaining. This has sent Kaur to a club of captains who have won three back-to-back matches in the Premier League, sharing the space with MS Dhoni. He is the star who brought the World Cup home in 2011.

Harmanpreet Kaur has also become the first captain in the history of the WPL to do so. Needless to say, there is not going to be anyone else to become the first in this category.

She has credited bowlers, showing appreciation for being the best in their performance. In a statement issued to the media, Kaur said that bowlers are doing well, thereby making her job easier.

True, considering the last match, where three MI bowlers took three wickets each. Saika Ishaque, Issy Wong, and Hayley Matthews went back with three wickets for their side. Their economy was well below 5 per over. Hayley conceded 19 runs in 4 overs, while Saika was handed the ball only for three overs, where she registered an economy rate of 4.33.

Wong was pretty economical with the bowl, giving away just 10 runs throughout her bowling span. Pooja Vastrakar managed to take a wicket in just one over, not returning for a throw again.

Delhi Capitals wanted to keep their winning streak going, but they could only score 105 runs in 18 overs. Meg Lanning could have been there instead of Kaur. MI outperformed with its dominance, which has been evident since the beginning of the tournament.

Natalie Sciver-Brunt finished the match for MI with the winning shot through a grounded four toward long-on. No bounce and things would have literally finished in style.

Adding to their domination, MI began the WPL with a 143-run triumph over the Gujarat Giants, who will have an opportunity to redeem themselves on March 14, 2023. MI scored 207 runs while losing five wickets. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 65 runs at a strike rate of 216.67 with 14 boundaries. Every other batter on the team contributed to her success.

The Giants were left behind after the batter went back to the pavilion without crossing the mark of 100 runs in total.

This should not affect the upcoming event since the teams, especially the Giants, are looking to start fresh for the win. Some of the best cricket betting sites consider placing better odds on MI instead of GG in that event. MI does have a better chance of repeating history. GG cannot be undermined despite being ranked fourth on the chart.

Meanwhile, RCB is gearing up to break its losing streak by clinching a victory over the UP Warriorz on March 10, 2023, at Brabourne Stadium. UPW needs this win to improve its net run rate compared to DC.
