Parnell bags Player of the Match with 3 wickets against RR, RCB inches closer to qualification

Royal Challengers Bangalore winning Game 60 versus Rajasthan Royals has changed the dynamics on the points table of the TATA IPL cricket tournament 2023. Notably, the game at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium was not even close to being called a competitive match. A victory of 112 runs is something to be proud of; RCB is leading the way now and only has to win two more games to cement its chances of qualifying for the next stage.

Michael Bracewell and Wayne Parnell followed through with their performance. Parnell even bagged Player of the Match for picking three wickets at an economy of 3.33 throughout three overs. Michael comes second on the list with an economy of 5.33 in the same number of overs, having picked two crucial wickets.

Parnell dismissed the second man of the opening pair without letting him open an account in 2 balls. The catch was caught by Siraj, the man who home-delivered the wicket of in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal. Parnell went on to pick two more wickets. Joe Root had to go back to the pavilion via LBW. RR’s skipper could not go past 4 runs this time, becoming yet another victim of RCB’s Parnell.

Both came together in a post-event interaction with the media to talk about their strategies. Simply put, it was all about keeping things simple and working hard. When asked about picking a favorite wicket, Parnell did not hesitate in naming Sanju Samson. This is the reason he can often be tough to play cricket with since there is barely a good ball for him when he sets the ground.

RCB had put up a total of 171 with a loss of 5 wickets, giving the target of 172 to RR. Kohli’s wicket felt good when it landed in the hands of Jaiswal. Little did RR know that there was a storm coming with Maxwell, who would go on to set up a massive partnership with Plessis. Both registered a half-century to their names and gave RCB the much-needed position in the match.

RCB’s upcoming games are against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. Fourteen points are less likely to advance RCB to the next stage. Winning both games is nothing but imperative. The one against GT could be a trick, with several online cricket betting sites backing the defending champions.

Plessis and Kohli could set the record straight and help RCB get four points.RR, for a second, thought that it was doable. Considering the way their skipper and Jaiswal have played in the past, with the latter featuring at the second spot for Purple Cap in TATA IPL 2023. Jaiswal has 575 runs to his name in 13 matches. He has been overtaken by Plessis, registering a total of 631 runs.
