Carolina Hurricanes received a mixed bag of news recently that involved the Rangers. The good part is that there would be no road talk, while the bad news included the Rangers eliminating them from the Carolina playoffs by beating the Hurricanes in Game 7.
The Rangers witnessed the well-rested team, Tampa Bay Lightning, in the Eastern Conference Finals 2022. Game 1 will be held on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. The Hurricanes gave up only eight goals in the previous seven playoff games. During game 7, they yielded six against the Rangers.
Igor Shesterkin did not receive a shutout, but he was still a great difference-maker who did not lead the Canes in game 7. The Hurricanes had previously won their last six games 7s, but the Rangers have recently won 8 out of 9 games 7s. Several wrong kinds of patterns led to the end for the Canes. They were the first in NHL history to initiate the playoffs, where the home team won the first 13 playoffs. However, at the most inconvenient time, the run ended.
