Suspicious Item identified at Salmon Arm Casino; Bomb Squad Called in from Lower Mainland

In a recent incident, Salmon Arm’s Chances Casino was evacuated and the BC RCMP’s bomb squad was called in, following the detection of a suspicious item.

A first responder team comprising of officers from the Salmon Arm RCMP and the Salmon Arm Fire Department arrived immediately. After the initial examination, they ordered for complete evacuation of the building.  The BC RCMP’s Explosives Disposal Unit was called in from Lower Mainland; they arrived a day later.

Staff Sgt. Scott West of the Salmon Arm RCMP assured that the device has been rendered safe and there is no threat to public safety anymore,

RCMP is investigating the incident with the hope of identifying the people who left the object at the casino and creating a panic situation there. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has the responsibility to protect Canada and its provinces. Also, some of the communities are policed by RCMP. They have their headquarters in British Columbia.
