The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has stepped up its efforts to combat unlawful internet gaming. In 2017, the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001 increased the ACMA’s authority.
It has now taken substantial measures to combat illicit behavior. These outcomes include the banning of 279 illicit betting sites and the discontinuation of 144 services in Australia. Along with this, the regulator has contributed to a 95% drop in access to the top ten betting platforms.
