Jonathan Abram could soon be a free agent

Jonathan Abram lost his position of defense. He could soon be a free agent following the Las Vegas Raiders’ intentions coming out in the reports. The team plans to release its first round of safety in the coming days.

The Las Vegas Raiders last attempted to trade Abram at the deadline; however, no taker was found. However, this has raised eyebrows to signal that Jonathan Abram could soon become a free agent subject to the clearance of waivers.

Meanwhile, the safety remains at just over $1 million in base salary. The amount is payable for the remainder of the year of the rookie contract. Any club that takes him in will carry forward the rest of the contract.

His gaming career has a single game as a rookie. However, this was before he went to the injured reserve after suffering from a shoulder injury. Jonathan Abram returned to the field with little impact, which was not enough to contribute to the side’s winning. Abrams has struggled in coverage and against the run.

The Las Vegas Raiders face the Indianapolis Colts on November 13, 2022. The Raiders lost their previous game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a margin of 7 points. The Jaguars put up 27 points on the board against 20 points by the Raiders. Except for the first and second quarters, nothing favored the Raiders. The momentum picked up by the Jaguars in the second quarter went on till the end of the game.

There is one thing that the Raiders can boast about. Victory over the Houston Texans by 38-20 in their favor did wonders for them. The Texans scored 10 each in the second and third quarters but went for a zero in other sessions. Jonathan Abram was featured in the event, with concerns now being raised if his absence could impact future games.

An event against the Colts will answer the question or hint at what the scenario could be if Abrams leaves the club. After the Las Vegas Raiders release Abram, NFL betting sites will consider who takes over the position.

Staying a free agent will give Jonathan Abram some time to introspect about the loss of his defensive position under the expectation that his game may bounce back. After his release, only Clelin Ferell and Josh Jacobs will remain from the six first-round picks of 2019-2021.
