North Carolina residents spent $600M on online sports betting

The residents of North Carolina seem delighted with the state’s decision to legalize online betting.

The state only allowed online sports betting a month ago. And now, the residents have spent nearly 660 million dollars on online betting. The stats were revealed in the North Carolina Lottery Commission’s latest report.

Between March 11 and March 31, the residents wagered approximately 660 million dollars and won approximately 600 million dollars. The figures give hope to the top Sports Betting Sites USA as the state recently legalized online betting.

Kevin Anderson, the manager at Tie Breakers Sports Bar and Grill, talked about the recent development. Anderson confirmed that since the news, more customers have visited betting venues.

The manager added that having a legal option to wager is good for enthusiasts. Now, players do not have to find loopholes to make it happen, added Anderson.

However, Chris Gill from Carolina Counseling stands at the opposite end of the spectrum. Gill believes that, despite the excitement, sports betting can also result in gambling addiction for some.

The counselor has requested that users seek counseling if they or their loved ones are having gambling problems. Gill added that gambling is something players crave because it releases endorphins. This lowers the cortisol levels, giving a false sense of satisfaction.

These debates became a common topic among the parties when eight vendors gained the right to operate online sportsbooks in North Carolina. FanDuel, Fanatics, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, DraftKings, BetMGM, ESPN BET, and Underdog Sports were among the vendors mentioned.

The NC Commission says that the state must deduct 18% tax from the gross betting revenue. Despite the brewing debate, the decision to legalize online sports betting can help the state generate more revenue.
