Sunday Night NFL Odds – Packers-Bills: This would be the spot for some Rodgers magic
How much Faith do you have in Aaron Rodgers? That might be your answer as to how you think the Green Bay Packers are going to do the rest of the way.
Honestly, as your project how they might do in the NFC North, where they are currently three games behind in Moscow, you would do anything but count Sunday night’s matchup with the Buffalo Bills as a win. You paragraph Buffalo has lost the game and had a couple of Coach calls, but this is generally considered to be the top side in the NFL, and Green Bay could be in the midst of a major slide.
These two teams will meet at are buffaloes’ home stadium in Orchard Park, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. Eastern Time.

Sunday Night NFL Odds – Let’s talk about the Bills
Josh Allen comes into this game with 1980 passing yards and projected over the course of the 17-game season; he’s going to set a record for most yardage in a season. Of course, we knew about Stefon Diggs as an All Pro caliber receiver, and he’s got 49 catches thus far. But the revelation is Gabriel Davis, who was their standout in last year’s AFC playoff game in Kansas City and is averaging a sizzling 27.4 yards per reception. Buffalo is good enough on the ground, and Allen is the guy who has aided that effort, as he has 257 rushing yards.
On defense, however, is where this team really shines. They have stuffed 27% of their opponents’ rushing plays, which is the best in the league. They’ve allowed only 1.37 points per drive and 3.5 yards per carry, and both of those figures are second best in the NFL. And they are limiting opposing passers to just six yards per attempt.
The Bills are also coming off a bye week, which is a big factor against this Green Bay team with key players banged up.
Sunday Night NFL Odds – Let’s talk about the Packers
You’ve got to believe that the Packers are not exactly brimming with confidence after blowing a 14-3 lead in last week’s game at FedEx Field and losing 23-21 to Washington. Aaron Rodgers threw for only 194 yards on 35 attempts, and the rushing attack accounted for only 38 yards.
That’s a genuine curiosity because Green Bay had averaged 4.7 yards per carry going into last week’s game. And all of us know what a load Aaron Jones is to take down. So why aren’t we seeing more balance from them?
Well, with receivers hobbling, that just might happen. Randall Cobb is on the injured reserve list. Christian Watson, the rookie, has been nicked up for most of the season. And a shoulder injury has disqualified Allen Lazard from participating.
Defensively, Green Bay is giving up 69% completions, and they actually improved that figure from 71% after last week’s effort. So there are obviously deficiencies in the secondary, that eventually somewhat affects the NFL betting odds on top sites.
Sunday Night NFL Odds – So what’s the verdict?
We have to admit – it’s pretty hard to make a fundamental case for the Packers. It just appears that the Bills have advantages in so many areas.
But – and we will say from time to time – this is the NFL, where everyone can rise up under the right circumstances.
And there are some intangibles to consider here. One of them is that Aaron Rodgers has never been a double-digit dog in any game he started, and we know that when he’s been properly motivated by humiliations or lack of respect, he’s responded in a big way. For what it’s worth, he has expressed to reporters that he’s absolutely confident that this team can turn it around.
Buffalo does not look soft upfront by any means. But in one of their meetings with the New England Patriots last year, Bill Belichick went run-heavy and was able to bully them a little bit, dominating that game on the ground. That might be the best hope for Green Bay in this one.
Rodgers makes quick decisions, so he can somewhat mitigate the effect of Von Miller, who has had six sacks for Buffalo since he was picked up as a free agent. As we have stated before in this piece, they need more balance. If they can get it, they can make this thing competitive deep into the fourth quarter. So we are going with the dog on Sunday night.
