Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke Voices Support for Sports Betting

Online gambling is when a person engages in gaming or betting services. Online gambling has served two sides until now. One shows that players can badly get addicted, and another shows that it can become the best pastime for responsible adults.

Whatever the argument, online casinos have remained in the news for one reason or another. Since they operate with no geo-restrictions, there is immense scope to attract many potential users from anywhere in the world.

A Call For Online Gambling

Poker, Fantasy Sports, and casual betting typically account for online gambling. These have stayed away from one state of the United States of America, Texas.

However, Beto O’Rourke has called Republicans to consider allowing online gambling operators into the state. Beto O’Rourke is the former Congressman and Presidential candidate, and he has raised his voice seeking the entry of operators who have been kept away from the market of the Lone Star State.

Texas has until now served as only a feeder to Las Vegas, and studies believe that the state may be ready to host online gambling for its residents. Many believe that Beto O’Rourke is performing these actions to unseat the current Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican.

A University of Houston survey in 2021 reveals a lot of truth to what Beto O’Rourke has said in a press conference.

According to the survey, most of the residents of Texas are in favor of extending their support to the expansion of online gambling. They also want to host several casinos in Texas.

What further strengthens the call by Beto O’Rourke is the fact that the major part of the revenue from the market can be directed to resolve the issue of inflation and property tax in Texas.

O’Rourke said that he has listened to the people from across the state, and it has come out as a popular proposal to have online gambling in Texas. He added that the revenue would help solve problems related to inflation and property tax.

Las Vegas Sands once tried to lobby for the legalization of casinos in the state. Attempts are underway, and if the word stays strong, then there could be a market for them to exist in the state.

Meanwhile, social poker clubs have boomed in Texas with their operations, including charging membership and seat fees from the people. Social Poker Clubs are different from the traditional ones because they charge the basic fees from their members and allow them to have fun till the end of their membership.
