Rybakina enters the semi-finals of the Australian Open

Elena Rybakina has defeated Jelena Ostapenko 6-2 6-4 in the Australian Open quarterfinals, entering the tournament’s semi-finals. Elena is now the first player to advance to the semi-final round. What really cemented her spot was her victory over everyone’s favorite, Iga Swiatek.

The fourth round was a close call between both players. It ended with a score of 6-4 6-4 in Elena’s favor.

Jelena was able to start the second set with a 2-0 lead but later saw the scoreboard slip to 4-6 for the opponent. Elena bounced back, carrying the confidence of defeating the favorite and one of the top players in the sport.

Call it redemption; the victory was a sure shot for her to quench her thirst for leaving a mark in the tournament. The doubles category did not go as it should have, losing in the third round with Pavlyuchenkova against Aoyama and Shibahara. While the first set took their game for an introspective ride, the second round brought reality and a final blow: the road ahead was no longer open for them.

The opponent to face Elena in the semi-finals is yet to be decided. A definitive answer could be seen in some time.

Elena, the Wimbledon champion, has clinched victories at Rod Laver Arena before as well. Collins, as well as Iga, was defeated with scores of 6-2, 5-7, and 6-2. Except for the second set, no fight could come close to matching the ability that Elena displayed throughout the gameplay.

Her first-serve win percentage was 82%, compared to 70% for Collins. The recent match saw a minor drop in the number that came down to 74%; however, it still managed to remain ahead against 57%. Break points for Elena versus Jelena stood at 4/6, where Jelena could secure a number of 1/8. She won a total of 12 games, leaving Jelena with only six wins, clearly not enough to put her in the winner’s circle.

Iga versus Elena saw the semi-finalist secure 59 winning points against the opponent’s 51 winning points. It was a close call for a reason, and Elena managed to turn the tides her way.

Some top tennis betting sites are modifying the odds ahead of the semi-final. With Elena in the top four, there is a possibility that she could emerge as the next favorite contender for the title. Ruthless Elena has made her way into the semi-finals by dominating the singles category at every point.

Only Collins could truly deliver a defeat in the second set. Other opponents could not pick the tune for themselves and serve for a winning point. Nothing has so far stopped Elena, and with two days left for the semi-finals, there is a chance that she is bracing up for another major victory at the Australian Open.
