The Super High Roller Bowl Europe 2021 event recently saw Phil Ivey winning the 25k buy-in short deck tournament. The Hall of Famer defeated 48 participants to score 408,000 dollars as the winning prize.
This was Phil’s first live tournament win for the year. Phil has already won 10 WSOP events and showcased his dominance to secure first place. The 44-year old legend has amassed more than 31.2 million dollars. Now, the player is ranked 12th on poker’s list of all-time winners.
Before the tournament, Phil’s previous win came in 2020 March. Then, the hall of Famer scored 1.7 million dollars, winning four cash games within a week at MILLIONS Super High Roller. The series was among the last live poker events before the industry came to a halt.
The event witnessed Phil beating 32 players, winning the 25K dollar heads-up event. In addition, legends like Patrik Antonius competed in the event, making Phil’s win even more amazing.
Other than fame and money. Phil even won multiple ranking points for the victory. He won 420 points for Card Player, Player of the Year. Additionally, Phil received 245 points for the PokerGO Tour. It resulted in Phil debuting for the first time in the events. The win allows him to enter the list of top 50 on the PokerGO leaderboard.
The current tournament’s final day started with Phil owning the second largest stack. The player gained the lead after winning against Brewer, resulting in Brewer earning 96K dollars for the 12th spot.
Phil scored the second elimination by beating Mikita for the third spot and 180K dollars. The elimination increased Phil’s lead to 3.5:1. Stephen Chidwick played against Phil Ivey at the final table. However, Phil won the tournament, beating Stephen, letting him win 264K dollars.
