KKR and SRH meet at TATA IPL 2023 for the 19th event of the tournament
Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face each other in the TATA IPL 2023 on April 14, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. IST at Eden Garden. KKR enjoys hosting opponents in the backyard and has better-winning chances on the domestic pitch.
Both teams meet for the 19th match of the tournament in the hope of keeping their momentum alive. KKR ranks 4th on the leaderboard with two consecutive victories out of three matches played so far. SRH gripped the momentum later, having won just the previous match after losing two in a row.
The winning streak for either team is going to break now. KKR’s line-up is looking forward to Rinku Singh embracing the role of a power hitter. Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine will have a shot to demonstrate their batting and all-rounder skills. Jason Roy is likely to appear for the team in the first match of this tournament.
Varun Chakaravarthy has regained his form and is now set to complement Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee in picking some crucial wickets at the home ground.
KKR lost the opener against Punjab Kings. They have moved on now with two wins to their names against the RCB and GT.
SRH is looking up to Aiden Markram to open with a big shot. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rahul Tripathi will handle the bowling attack and the middle order, respectively. Bhuvi’s experience is worth having him on the team. He can come out in the death over, managing to restrict the opponent from hitting the big shots.
Sunrisers have lost two openers against Rajasthan Royals and LSG, having won only the previous match against Punjab Kings. The 2016 winners are now ranked second from the bottom.
Meanwhile, the two-time IPL winning team looks to either set a huge target by batting first or let their batters lose in the second innings while chasing the target.
Eden Gardens is famous for offering a batting pitch. Hence, huge scores are a normal occurrence here. KKR is the team to have hit 232 runs at the venue against the Mumbai Indians in 2019. The lowest score was scored by RCB, 49 runs. While the average number of runs scored at Eden Gardens in the IPL is 160, a minimum score of 180 is only considered a competitive mark.
No matter which team chooses to bat first, a big score has to come for the opponent to not chase it in the second inning. Online cricket betting sites show wins to incline towards the team that chases the target at Eden Gardens. Considering those five 6s powered by Rinku Singh, one can only assume that the venue will light up once again if KKR is chasing a target.
Players should expect temperatures between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius that are warm and humid.
KKR have won six matches in their hometown and lost only two. Their head-to-head record against SRH is 15 wins and 8 losses.
