Even after Governor Charlie Baker projected the launch of legalized sports betting in the year mid of 2020, the chances look dicey. The news came out from a renowned legislator leading the issue.
Rhode Island has already legalized it, while New Hampshire is planning to begin on Monday. Amidst all the states embracing the deal, Massachusetts might not witness it anytime soon. The legislative body of New Hampshire passed the bill on June 19th, 2019. Maine, Connecticut, Vermont, and Massachusetts are in the line of states that introduced recent bills that are yet to be passed. Baker said that it is only a matter of time when Massachusetts is among the states legalizing a prominent trend.
Baker informed that the legalization is taking longer than expected by saying:
In an interview on Monday on a show, the governor emphasized the future of sports betting legalization in Massachusetts. He said,
He said that the legislature did hold a hearing regarding that this spring. He also informed that there weren’t many people who testified it and the ones who did were primarily concerned about their private interests.
