Fanatics Sportsbook Pays $1M After Major Service Outage

Fanatics Sportsbook is reportedly distributing $1 million in FanCash to users affected by a major service outage that temporarily disrupted its online betting platform on Wednesday.

The problem occurred due to a fault in a severed fiber optic cable in New York. It left many users unable to access their accounts or place bets for several hours.

The outage primarily impacted bettors in New York, however, users from Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey also reported issues.

Fanatics Sportsbook Responds Swiftly to Disruption

While the company has not clarified whether the incident was accidental or intentional, Fanatics revealed that the downtime on a “third party” has damaged the fiber optic infrastructure.

In a message posted on social media, Fanatics said, “Things aren’t always in our control, but we want to make it right.” Alongside the $1 million in FanCash, New York customers will also receive a 50% Profit Boost Token as an added gesture of goodwill.

FanCash is the company’s reward system. It can be redeemed for Fanatics-branded merchandise or used as Bonus Bets within the sportsbook app.

The amount of FanCash earned depends on betting odds. It can range from as low as 0.01% to as high as 10% of the original wager.

Over the past year, Fanatics ranked 5th in New York with $1.6 billion in mobile bets and generated $120.2 million in revenue.
