Michigan Sports Betting & iGaming Revenue Hits $220.9M July

In the month of July, mobile sports wagering and iGaming in Michigan, United States, generated $220.86 million in gross revenue on August 21, 2024.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board compared the figures from the previous month, which projected an increase in gross receipts by almost 3.2%, with the total revenue for July settling at around $191.44 million.

Adjusted gross revenue for the verticals amounted to about $189.5 million, out of which $172.3 million came from iGaming and $17.2 million from sports betting.

Furthermore, gross receipts for sports wagering in Michigan for July were $29.42 million, representing a nearly 9.6% decrease from $250.2 million in June.

Compared to June, the combined iGaming and sports betting total AGR in Michigan for July soared to 4.7%. However, the independent sectors saw an increased AGR of 24.7% and 5.2%, respectively, as opposed to the numbers collected in July 2023.

Last week, the Michigan Gaming Control Board reported that three casinos in Detroit generated approximately $105.9 million in revenue in July. Detroit contributed $9.11 million to the $37.1 million total of payments and taxes submitted to the state.

Among the three casinos, BetMGM led the way with a market share of 48% and a rise in revenue month-on-month by almost 2.5%.

In addition, tribal operators reported that they made a total payment of $4.5 million to the state’s governing authorities throughout July.

MGM Bonus City, a Hybrid Dealer game, was recently unveiled by BetMGM in collaboration with Inspired Entertainment. Following its successful introduction in New Jersey in October, the game will be introduced in Michigan.
