MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard finished runner-up in the MSPT JACK Cleveland Main Event, earning $94,912 after falling to Paul Lampl in heads-up play. The $1,110 buy-in event drew 819 entries across three starting flights and generated a $792,930 prize pool. Reichard entered the final stages of the tournament alongside several other experienced MSPT players before reaching heads-up play against Lampl. Lampl ultimately secured the title and the $154,220 first-place prize. The finish adds to an MSPT record that includes three Main Event titles, a Player of the Year award, five Gold Card wins and a Hall of Fame place. The tournament was held at JACK Cleveland Casino from August 18 through August 23. 

Josh Reichard Falls Short of Another MSPT Main Event Title 

Reichard’s tournament ended with a 500,000-chip all-in against Lampl during heads-up play. According to the MSPT’s live report, Reichard held Jack of Club, 9 of Heart, while Lampl had King of Heart, 3 of Spade. Lampl was ahead before the flop, and the 6 of  Spade, King of Club, Jack of Spade flop gave both players a pair while keeping Lampl in front. The 2 of Heart arrived on the turn, leaving Reichard needing a jack or nine on the river to survive. Verify against the live report, since he already held a pair of jacks. Ace Heart completed the board, ending Reichard’s Main Event run in second place. The elimination followed a failed bluff that cost Reichard most of his stack, and a subsequent double-up. Lampl finished the hand with 24.57 million chips and the Main Event title.

Reichard had reached heads-up play with Lampl after the elimination of Dietrich Boysel in third place for $70,388. Before that, Ricky Landais finished fourth for $52,198 and Tom Hanley took fifth for $39,544. The final table also included Jeremy Halaska, Andrew Hoppenjans, Brian Hall and Paul Kardules. A key hand came shortly before the final eliminations, when Lampl doubled through Reichard and moved into a larger chip lead. Reichard raised to 700,000 preflop and later bet 1.25 million on the turn. Lampl responded with a 4.85 million all-in. Reichard called with King of Club, 10 of Heart, while Lampl held Ace of Spade, 10 of Club. Lampl had Reichard drawing dead and moved to 13.8 million chips, while Reichard dropped to 4.2 million. That hand helped set the conditions for the later heads-up finish, with Lampl holding the larger stack when the final stage began.

Paul Lampl Wins $154,220 as Reichard Takes Second 

Lampl entered heads-up play with approximately a 2:1 chip advantage over Reichard, according to the MSPT’s tournament report. He went on to win the Main Event for $154,220, his first MSPT title and largest recorded career score. The event was the second and final MSPT stop at JACK Cleveland Casino during the season and formed part of a five-event Gold Card festival. The Main Event carried a $500,000 guarantee, but the 819 entries pushed the final prize pool to $792,930. Ninety-one players returned for Day 2, with the field already in the money.

For Reichard, the result adds a runner-up finish to an established MSPT résumé. The tour’s player information lists him as a three-time Main Event champion, one-time Player of the Year, five-time Gold Card winner and MSPT Hall of Famer. The remaining final-table payouts were $22,935 for seventh, $18,190 for eighth and $14,236 for ninth.
