Casinos in Las Vegas Hiring as Resorts Open on June 1 at 100% Capacity

Boyd Gaming’s employment fair on June 10 will be the company’s fourth in as many months. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the next event is for the company’s quick-service food restaurants.

Boyd controls multiple properties in Southern Nevada, including the downtown Las Vegas Fremont Hotel & Casino.

The Main Street Station Casino, Brewery, and Hotel, another of Boyd’s downtown Las Vegas properties, has been closed since the statewide pandemic-related lockdown began in March 2020. With capacity limits, Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) approved casinos to reopen in early June 2020.

For the first time since the coronavirus epidemic began in 2020, all casinos will be able to function at full capacity on Tuesday. Based on workforce vaccination objectives, several casinos were already working at full capacity.

Body Gaming is employing at its other casinos in the Las Vegas Valley, according to company spokesperson David Strow.

According to Amanda Belarmino, an associate professor of hospitality at UNLV, difficulties in hiring personnel is to be expected.

According to the Wall Street Journal, unemployment in the area reached 34.2 percent at one time last year. For any metropolitan region with a population of more than one million people, Las Vegas has the highest unemployment rate in the country.

Other Southern Nevada hotel-casino corporations have also sponsored job fairs and are still hiring.

For select roles, Golden Entertainment has given on-the-spot hiring and $500 incentives. In Southern Nevada, the corporation owns multiple PT’s pubs, and hotel casinos, notably the Strat Hotel, Casino, and Skypod in Las Vegas.

However, the Las Vegas economy began to improve earlier this year, thanks to the statewide deployment of COVID-19 vaccines and stimulus cheques.
